Cathy Ashley is author of the welfare benefits briefing paper Universal Credit and the Self Employed, the Scotland chapter in the new edition of Simon Fairlie’s DIY Planning Handbook  (The Land is Ours, 2018) and numerous articles in Permaculture Magazine and The Land magazine.

She has just finished studying for an MA Professional Writing, and is currently working on a doctoral research proposal for Glasgow University entitled Writing Scotland as ‘Other’: the craft of portraying the Scots and their culture in fiction.

Her current work in progress is a dystopian romance thriller The Scottish Exiles and the adaptation of her MA Final Project The Solitary Protagonist to a book proposal.

Cathy has been keeping a journal since 1990, and sometimes drafts legal documents and other boring stuff.

She has lots to say about lots of things but sometimes simply ends up quoting Basil Fawlty or Arthur Dent.  She has a tuneless song called I’m a Lucky Parker, which doesn’t sound very nice but is surprisingly effective.
